Symbolism in Esperanza Rising


Throughout our time reading Esperanza Rising, I will assign students to contribute weekly to our symbolism discussion post. In this post, you will analyze a specific chapter of Esperanza Rising to identify examples of symbolism. For example, in chapter 1, Papa tells Esperanza that their land is alive.

In your comment you must:
·      Quote your example of symbolism
·      Provide the page number
·      Write an explanation of why you think it is symbolism and what the quote means
